Mouse Trap

Remember the fun game comprised of a plethora of plastic pieces carefully designed to intricately catch a "mouse"? Lately we have been trying to recreate that same game only the mouse is real and quite clever. Some of the devices used in this game so far have been mouse traps (plastic and old school wooden), vacuum cleaner with hose attachment, large cup, wooden tray, and cd rack (shown here).

Although the little rodent is/was cute and whiskery, it was preventing Bert from eating in a healthy weight-sustaining manner. This is due to the fact that it was emptying Bert's bowl of food by night and hiding nibbles throughout our house in all the nooks and crevices all while dropping turds everywhere it ate. He was a bold mouse that stared humans in the face... when they weren't standing on the couch shrieking.

I say 'was' because lil' mouse mouse is no longer with us. It was fallen by the source of his health and well being for weeks- a mouse trap in Bert's old dog dish. After watching this mouse scurry past strategically placed traps as if to say, "Is this all ya' got?", it was finally out-foxed.

This may seem cruel and unusual punishment, but my experience with "humane traps" was an even more heart wrenching experience than a quick snapping trap. We thought our cares were free after the little guy was sent to the insulation filled walls in the sky, but there have been signs that a lazier human-fearing relative is still roaming these digs. Therefore, the traps will remain set, and Bert will continue to need supervised eating times so he can stay healthy and strong. These little gray vermin have made our poor doggie unsure of his own environment, and that's wrong. The slaughter shall continue until no turds are found again.
